“From The Core“, the debut solo album from Jeff Pevar, recorded in the Oregon Caves National Monument.
The music on this album began as 12 improvisations recorded on acoustic guitar and mandocello for the PBS documentary “The Marble Halls Of Oregon”. After the National Park Service heard this music, they asked if Jeff would consider releasing it as an album of it’s own. Jeff then decided to take artistic license and bring the tracks recorded in the caves back to his home studio and overdub various instruments.
As the project evolved, he invited some very special guests to add their unique flavor to select pieces, including Jon Anderson, the voice of YES, who co-wrote lyrics and sings on the single, “River Of Dreams”.
Jeff had no idea when he was creating this music, what he would play or where the songs would end up harmonically, never mind it end up becoming his debut solo album, but it all comes “From The Core”!
Honoring the iconic music of the Grateful Dead with original interperative arrangements by this legendary ensemble.
Featuring world-renowned musicians: T Lavitz, Rod Morgenstein, Jeff Pevar, David Livolsi, Alphonso Johnson, Jerry Goodman, Luis Conte, Bill Evans, Howard Levy and Bill Holloman.
Due to the unfortunate passing of our beloved T Lavitz in October of 2010, this recording also serves as a tribute to one of the finest keyboard players that ever graced the planet.
In the summer of 2011, Jeff was contacted by Scott Blum to see if Jeff was interested in scoring the music for Scott’s First Independent Movie, “WALK-IN“. Jeff accepted and composed dozens of pieces of original music for the movie, playing all of the instrumentation himself on his compositions.
The WALK-IN Original Soundtrack released June 2012. The album features 13 instrumental compositions written by Jeff and also includes the theme song “Familiar” which Jeff helped arrange and co-produce. The song features Danforth Comins on vocals who is the lead character in the WALK-IN movie and also a talented Shakespearean actor.
A live CD from The Mix tour in 2010 featuring the all-star line up of Melvin Seals on keys and vocals (Jerry Garcia Band), John Kadlecik on guitar and vocals (Further & Dark Star Orchestra), Jeff Pevar on guitar and vocals, Greg Anton on drums (Zero & Steve Kimock) and Kevin Rosen on bass (Dark Star Orchestra). This CD features cuts from various stops on their tour and is not to be missed!
