Who/What is Jazz Is Dead?
Some have been confused when they hear the name "Jazz Is Dead" wondering what is meant by the name of the band. JID is a play on words describing an ensemble of renowned musicians honoring the iconic compositions of the Grateful Dead, but not really sounding "like" the Grateful Dead...talking it to an "altered reality". This celebratory CD "Grateful Jazz" features Jeff's arrangements performed by an array of world class musicians, including our dear friend, T Lavitz, who tragically passed away in his sleep in 2010. We are so thrilled to honor his legacy by releasing this incredible music out for all the world to hear!
